So for the record I am writing this on July 28, 6:53 PM. Which is why some of the pictures are a little dated…ha.
Anyways so I saw someone else doing one of these (can’t really remember who at this point) but it sounded interesting so…why not?
Pre-post
The Books
So…I actually do have a shelf completely dedicated to my TBR (yes it is overflowing) but I pretty much put all my MUST READ ASAP and RELEASING IN THE NEXT MONTH books on my nightstand so that they’re right there whenever I feel like reading. (This is the part where I tell you I never get out of my bed.)
Notes
Notes. I take em, you take em, but do we all take em for books? Yeah that made no sense. But anyways, I typically write notes on ANY book I read, whether it’s a review book or not. And I’ll
write them on anything. Online, on the publicity sheet, on the postits (that I carry around everywhere in my purse) or the little notepads I have on my nightstand. EVERYWHERE. Sometimes they’re actual thought out notes (especially with poignant books) but most of the time they’re just random feels and EMOTIONS and yep. Not even real notes lol.
Scheduling
So. At this time (Like I said, July 28) my draft goes all the way to the beginning of May. Yes that does mean I have posts scheduled in May (really just Waiting on Wednesdays and discussion posts and stuff.) Anyways THIS IS HOW I SCHEDULE THINGS. Some people use their phone calender or Google calenders or just use WordPress to see, but I like using my email drafts. This way I can see everything in a list order. That way it’s easy to change (just copy/paste and remember to reschedule the posts.) The red means it’s been written and scheduled and formatted and pretty much ready to go. The black means that it still needs to be written. The blue means it’s an FF Thinks (I do those once every two weeks) and the purple is every Saturday so I can keep track of my weeks. I also have a green that means that I can move that post (since it’s not a review book) and a light pink that means I can only use that slot if I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO.
For blog events like GYDO though, I most definitely use spreadsheets. (Green means it’s scheduled, white means the author hasn”t sent it, and red means I’ve sent interview questions and haven’t received them.)
Postmaking
Well there’s really not much to say after all that. But here’s the part where I pimp Ashley’s . It’s absolutely FANTASTIC.
So basically, when you’re writing your review all you have to do to get the book info is search the ISBN or the title and author name and you’ll get pretty much…everything. Also the publishers and authors automatic listing? SO FANTASTIC. I have no idea how Ashley makes these things. Also she’s created this thing where once the post publishes THE REVIEW WILL AUTOMATICALLY POST TO GOODREAD.S GUYS. DO YOU KNOW HOW MAGICAL THAT IS. So magical.
