So I was thinking about all the things I’ve read and never loved as much as everyone else, and all the books I’ve NEVER READ. So we’ll start with this part:

Didn’t Like

The books/writers I didn’t love, much to my chagrin

Syrena Legacy by Anna Banks

I actually LOVELOVELOVED Of Poseidon. Then Of Neptune made me feel a bit iffy. Then I completely DNF’d Of Triton because of how IRRITATING it absolutely was in the first hundred pages. I really just couldn’t guys. So sad.

Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

AGAIN I AM SO SORRY. But I had issues with the first two books and then I have Cress, but can’t bring myself to go through a 500+ page book that I’m not sure I’ll like. But Cinder was so cheesy and so utterly predictable and Scarlet…well, Scarlet (the character) just flat out ANNOYED ME.

Cassandra Clare

Now, I LIKED the Clockwork Angel series. I LIKED the first few books in the Mortal Instruments. But after the fourth book, the entire plot was completely and utterly random. And then Cassandra Clare starts writing more and more books IN THE SAME WORLD. And EVERYONE always gets a pretty happy ending despite all their crap (and why is everyone always paired up?? Someone always gets the guy/girl) And I just really dislike the fact that all these series start sounding the same and that they’re ALL in the same world. I mean, great and all, but it’s starting to feel like she’s just milking the Shadowhunters’ world.

Haven’t Had

The books/writers I have yet to read, despite everyone’s urging.

Harry Potter

I’M SORRY GUYS. I STILL HAVEN’T READ THESE. I attempted to binge watch the movies two years ago but…eeeeeeh. I am eternally sorry. BUT ONE DAY GUYS. ONE DAY I WILL READ THOSE HUGE FAT BOOKS OF WONDER AND TEARS THAT EVERYONE ALWAYS TALKS ABOUT. ONE DAY.

Stephen King

Nope. I actually am not quite sure what he even really writes. Horror, right? But like, does hewrite anything else? Because that I’d be willing to give a try. HORROR IS JUST NO.

Dean Koontz

Even my friend reads these guys. She absolutely loves him (but doesn’t read a ton of YA) and keeps telling me to read him but….MEHHHHHHHH. I dunno, I just don’t feel it :P

Sarah Dessen

*shrinks back* I AM a huge contemporary fan but…I dunno guys. Whenever I feel in the mood for a contemporary, her books sound so…cheesy. But I KNOW I should read them eventually, right?! ONE DAY.

Game of Thrones/Lord of the Rings

Totally bunching these two together because same case: Fantasy series that is converted into movies/books that sound awesome and I keep WANTING to read but damn, those things are huge. I was also scarred as a7 year old by a Lord of the Rings movie and could never watch them after that. And I keep WANTING to watch Game of Thrones at least, but the blood. I can not handle blood in such a large amount alone. If I found a friend who was willing to watch with me…*sighs*

I am ready for the tomatoes.

(But I will not tolerate any rude comments because these are my opinion. MY OPINION.)

  1. I love Cassie Clare, she’s my hero! City of Bones was the book that introduced me to YA so it always has a special place in my bookish heart. I can see why you had problems with it though, and yes 5 series does seem a bit excessive. I loved Of Poseidon but Of Neptune killed me! It was just so bad and completely unnecessary. It’s okay, I’ve only read books 5-7 of HP. ;) Stephen King is really good, I don’t see what all the fuss is over Dessen.

  2. DUDE HP?

And honestly, Cassandra Clare is like Gossip girl. It’s terrible and full of annoying drama but for some reason, it appeals to the inner teenager in me. I haven’t read the Syrena trilogy but mermaids aren’t really my thing. What I can’t agree on is TLC because I am a complete lunartic. I can see why you wouldn’t like it but it is my life.

Also, i don’t like high fantasy *prepares for tomatoes* [Well, it isn’t that I hate it. it’s that I wouldn’t pick it up as a first choice or without someone’s recommendation. Idk.]

  3. WOAH you haven’t read Harry Potter yet? You are missing out Nikki!

I totally agree with Cassandra Clare, I stopped at her 2nd book although I have the whole series on my bookshelf. It makes me so sad that you couldn’t get into Cress though, that series is one of my favourites! Thanks for your honesty though, Nikki.
