We all know those books that we read before we blog. When we reread them we either hate or love or we don’t reread them because we’re scared of…not loving them so much. Yep. SO IN CELEBRATION OF MY RECENT BLOGOVERSARY, I decided to do something…pre blogging.
Randomly I know I started blogging Nov 26, 2011 (holy crapsticks) but I’m moving up the timetable to about March/April 2012 since that’s when I started taking blogging seriously. Sooooo. Well yeah.
What books do I STILL LOVE AND WILL ALWAYS LOVE? (And yes I did reread these)
Stolen by Lucy Christopher
I will ALWAYS ALWAYS love this book. When I first discovered it, I felt about iffy with the whole kidnapping thing and possible-rape (I mean I was 10 when I read this okay) but I fell IN LOVE with this book. First book I ever cried for and pretty much by kick start to emotional contemporaries.
Dragonfly by Julia Golding
HIGH FANTASY WHOOOOOO! This one was always awesome for me as a 10/11 year old. The world was absolutely fantastic and I LOVED the ending and the political intrigue was awesome and just so much YES. (I read Julia Golding’s MG series The Companion’s Quartet first though. LOVE that series too.)
The Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa
My love for this series is infinite. ESPECIALLY for Ash and Puck and Megan. Definitely one of my first fantasy/paranormal books and my kickstart to YA (While I did read YA before I didn’t know YA was a Thing. Weird right.)
Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
I don’t even have any idea how I discovered this one but can I just say IF YOU DON’T LOVE THIS SERIES YOU’RE NOT MY FRIEND. I mean VALEK. ASSASSINS. MAGIC. YELENA. So. Much. Awesome.
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Vampires vampires. LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. (Not so much the movie.) Even as an 11 year old I knew how badass Rose was. (I think I first discovered this book on YA Reads. WOOT FOR NOW BLOGGER FRIENDS.) For the record that certain charming scene did sort of scar my 11 year old mind (I was like 200 words into it before I realized what was happening. I don’t think I ever felt more awkward in my life.)
Warped by Maurissa Guibord
UNICORNS AND TAPESTRIES. I LOVE(D) this book! Maurissa Guibord is just AMAZING since I loved Revel (her 2013 release) too! I can’t even really remember what I loved about it, but I do know I reread it sometime after I took blogging seriously and loved it just as much.
Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
Reread this book. Still had the same impact on me that it had before. Tears. There were tears in that reread. I remember.
The ones I haven’t reread SIMPLY because I’m scared I may not love them as much anymore.
Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
Angels…? I’m not sure what would happen if I read this book again. Do you think it’d be too cheesy? Would I love it as much as before? I have no clueeeeee. I mean it has a high rating on Goodreads I’d still love this one right?
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
I LOVED this one at the time. But looking back, I’m not so sure if I’d like the whole back and forth thing happening. I mean it was sort of a love triangle at it’s worst and I REALLY don’t want to ruin the book for past me.
Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
Fallen angels. Insta-attraction to a douche. Don’t really know if I’d love this one if I reread it? I also read Black Ice and that was NOT a hit with me. :/ Who knows.
Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson
WILL I LOVE THIS ONE? I DON’T KNOW. I ADORED ADORED ADORED this book when I read it (won from an Epic Reads giveaway at the time) but I have no clue if I’ll love it now. However I did just check it out from my library sooooooooo…
Wings by Aprilynne Pike
So I didn’t love the rest of her books (Sleep No More, Earthbound, Life After Theft was decent but not amazing) so I’m a bit worried that I only loved WINGS because I read it before blogging. :/ I plan a reread soon, but…well. TOO SCARED TO FIND OUT.
Marked by P.C. Cast
The number of books in this series guys. More vampires. I have no idea HOW I’ll feel about this. I can’t really remember anything except there were so many guys in love with the main character. There was what, even a god in love with her? I remember counting and there were like 5 guys. It was interesting but holy hell. I wish I was as popular as her. Without all the death.
Books I read before blogging, loved, reread, and…didn’t love. TOO HEARTBREAKING TO RECOLLECT ON SOME OF THEM.
Matched by Allie Condie
Halo by Alexandra Adornetto
Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout
BESIDES SEXUAL TENSION AND HOT BAD BOYS…what was there plot wise? Didn’t seem like there was much :/
Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
Divergent by Veronica Roth
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I…didn’t love this one when I reread it. Even pre blogging I didn’t like the last two books. Then reread Hunger Games. DIDN’T LOVE IT EITHER. GAH
I too will always love VA. It’s just soooo good! I recently reread Unearthly and I loved it just as much!! I see what you mean about Divergent…. I reread it and didn’t enjoy it as much… Same goes for The Huger Games. I feel that blogging spurs you to read more and opens you up to new genres and helps you discover more books. Your tastes eventually change and when you reread, your favorites aren’t as good to you anymore. I find it sad when that happens to me but at the same time I know I’ll find new great books
I really want to read Poison Study! I read the first book in the Iron Fey series but it wasn’t my favorite. Wasn’t bad either… Maybe I’ll pick it up again. I have a feeling that if you reread Hush, Hush you might not like it…
Oh and about “I’ll Meet You There,” I’m sending you a newer arc. My copy is all scruffy, I’ll give you the one that Macmillan is sending me (should come in this week).

I’M WITH YOU ON DRAGONFLY. I love that book My sister (who doesn’t care much for YA) introduced it to me, and I love it so much! I think Poison Study is still epic as well, and I love the Iron Fey series as well Who wouldn’t love Puck?! I’m not big on Hush Hush though I didn’t like that one at all. I’m with you on Matched and Divergent as well :\ Wasn’t a huge fan of Divergent (the concept was a bit ludicrous to me D:)
Thanks for sharing Nikki!
Well, Nikki, I think if you reread Tiger Lily, you will still love it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book and I read it last year. I don’t know exactly how old you were when you read it but I was 16 and it was awesome.
Hmm, what else. I am afraid of rereading the Divergent series and the Hunger Games cuz they were awesome and I am afraid of ruining the experience for past me.
I read Wicked Lovely last year and really liked it. I think I gave it four stars. I guess there are some kind of books that you can only read once. Next time won’t be so awesome
GREAT post though!
